Brinley Gold Shipwreck Lime Rum
Bob & Zach Brinley started producing their Brinley Gold Shipwreck Rum on the Caribbean Island of St. Kitts over a decade ago. Bob’s previous manufacturing company on this small island nation had closed down, and the father-son team decided a “step-up” in the flavored rum world was overdue. They have been making their award-winning Rum on this beautiful Caribbean Island in small batches ever since. Their new Coconut Rum Cream has received an outstanding rating of 93 points from Wine Enthusiast and may just be one of this year’s best new products. Shipwreck is currently being featured on the Disney Cruises and at the Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport, NJ.
As of now, the company has six main flavors, not including the rum cream: Spiced, Vanilla, Coffee, Mango, Lime, and (our favorite) Coconut! The Brinleys knew they had crafted something special and wanted to share it with the states. Zach & Bob wanted to get into the spirits world door personally and started selling their product store-to-store, bar-to-bar, and tried to fit in as many tastings as possible. Zach, Bob’s son, trading in his Wall Street job to focus on Shipwreck Rum full-time and now serves as president of the company. Bob currently serves as chairman. Their hard work definitely paid off. Opici – a well-known distributor for the New Jersey/New York area – picked up the brand in 2005 and helped the company grow immeasurably in just a few short years. Brinley Shipwreck Spiced Rum is their most popular flavor of the collection. Aged for four years, it’s filled with delicious flavor.
Brinley Gold Shipwreck Lime Rum
The name itself is dedicated to an actual British troop ship that sank off the coast of St. Kitts in 1782. Rumor has it that spices that were on the ship washed ashore to provide the island with new and unique products – which you happen to find in the rums today. St. Kitts is sixty-nine square miles with a total population of over 30,000. It is the smallest country in the Western Hemisphere. The capital, Basseterre, is the largest port on the island.
