Beaulieu Vineyard (or BV Coastal) began in 1900 when Georges de Latour’s wife, Fernande, discovered the land that would soon become their original Rutherford Vineyard. She thought it was such a beautiful place – so she named it “beau lieu.” Georges soon sold his thriving business to purchase the four-acre ranch in the Napa Valley which would eventually rival vineyards in his native France. The family soon began to sell wine to the Catholic Churches which allowed BV to be the only Napa winery open during Prohibition. Business boomed! During 1938, Georges traveled to France to improve his wines. He returned with André Tchelistcheff, a well-known viticulturist and enologist. He introduced the families to new ways of fermentation that carry on to the present day. BV Coastal recently completed a state-of-the-art winery within one of the original buildings to combine the latest technology with the time-honored traditions. Their exceptional wines include Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc.
Also producing the same variety of wines is the Bogle Family. In 1968, father & son team, Warren and Chris Bogle, planted their first 20 acres of grapes near the Sacramento River in California. Today they have over 1,500 acres of wine grapes! The winery wasn’t fully established until the late 1970’s and has since grown tremendously. The Bogle family has a commitment: nurturing and preserving their land and its vitality, just as their previous six generations have done. The current generation is extremely hands on. Chris and Patty Bogle’s son Ryan maintains the numbers for the company with his business degree and accounting experience while daughter Jody (Bogle VanDePol) takes care of customer relations, international sales, and the wine club. They have been following GHG emissions and ways to reduce them since 2008.
