Sterling Vineyards Sparkling Rose
Sterling Vineyards Sparkling Rose is an elegant pale salmon pink color in the glass with a delightfully persistent bead. The fresh aromas of strawberry, cherry blossom, rose petal and crisp apple lead to a lush palate where the aromas ring true. The wine offers upfront fruit flavors, yet is balanced by creamy texture and bright acidity. The effervescence of the wine lends to the crisp, clean finish.
Vineyard Notes – The Sterling Vineyards 2016 Sparkling Rosé wine is comprised of 70 percent Chardonnay (Napa County) and 30 percent Pinot Noir (Monterey County). The Napa Valley Chardonnay comes from a single vineyard located in Yountville that produces beautifully concentrated Chardonnay with excellent varietal character. Monterey County is a cool region influenced by the Pacific Ocean and its consistent cooling breezes and morning fog. Pinot Noir thrives in this area and the fruit from this region offers bright, juicy fruit flavors with good structure and acidity levels.
Winemaking Notes
Winemaker Harry Hansen takes great care in crafting a deliciously balanced base wine that highlights the delicate strawberry and cherry blossom aromas and flavors. Both the Chardonnay and the Pinot Noir are fermented in stainless steel to preserve freshness. First and second pressings are blended to add depth, layers of flavor and complexity. The Pinot Noir remains on skins for a limited amount of time to extract subtle color and some tannin which gives the final wine balanced structure. The sparkling is made using the Charmat Method, or Cuveé Close, giving the wine a delicate but persistent effervescence.
