For many years, it was only grown in Rhine, Germany. The Riesling grape variety has since expanded its growth of vineyard to Northern Italy, Canada, New York, South Africa, and many more. They are also known as Rheinriesling or Johannisberger grapes. These grapes possess a flowery aroma much like perfume and are usually high in acidity. Rieslings are used to craft dry, semi-sweet, sweet, and sparkling white wines. Grown in cool climates, the grapes also tend to hold notes of apple and other tree fruits. World-renowned German wine producer Fritz Windisch teams up with Damon Dash and his team at the Poppington group to create something a little different: Dusko Blu Riesling Auslese in our Something Blue Wine Gift Basket.

Dusko Blu is presented to you in a tea-cup inspired wicker basket along with cookies, coffee, tea, biscotti, and chocolates. This 2013 Riesling Auslese offers you floral notes with hints of peaches and apricots. Dusko wine is harvested later than “normal” wines which gives it a full body and a rich palate. A distinct balance between acidity and a long finish pairs well with cheese & fruit plates as well as being combined into a cocktail. The sleek blue glass bottle is branded with an embossed metal grape emblem which will continue to be a great vase or center piece long after the wine is gone. Dusko Blu won a gold medal at the 2015 WSWA wine and spirits competition.
