Bogle Vineyards Essential Red
Bogle Vineyards Essential Red brings together four distinct reds together to create something delicious. Old Vine Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petite Sirah are woven together for a rich textured wine with dark berries and black plums filling the palate. Notes of juniper and dried herbs lead into spicy cedar, pipe tobacco, and cocoa. It’s aged for 12 months in American oak barrels, leading to a luscious finish. This wine pairs with blue cheese, barbecued burgers, and dark chocolate macaroons.
The Bogle family has been farming since the mid-1800’s. It was over a century later in 1968 when father-and-son team, Warren and Chris, planted the first 20 acres of wine grapes on their Clarksburg, California farm land. The small community is known for its farm land since it is nestled right along the Sacramento River. “It was intended to be a small thing, an interesting project. We just grew as demand grew,” Patty Bogle told the Sacramento Bee in 2009. Their years of hard work and dedication paid off and the vineyard is now a nationally acclaimed winery! They grew their small 20 acres into an outstanding 1,600 plus acres; 1200 in Clarksburg and 400 in the Lodi Appellations.
The winery wasn’t established until ten years after the first grapes were planted. Bogle started off as a family business and it still is to this day. The family credits their success to being involved day-to-day in every process. They are currently on their 6th generation of family and they are not afraid to get their hands dirty. The children of Chris (grandchildren of Warren) and Patty are in current hold of the reigns. Ryan works on the business aspect of the company managing the accounting and numbers. He holds a degree in business and has previous experience in accounting. Jody handles the wine club, international sales, and customer relations. Warren, who is named after his grandfather, continues the tradition of farming the vineyards. He follows the families knowledge that in order to product quality wines, you must produce quality grapes. Respect to the land and vines has been a motif in family, being passed down from generation to generation.

Six generations of Bogle’s all with one goal: Go Green! Bogle plans to reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 2020 and up to 20% per case. They have been following GHG emissions and ways to reduce them since 2008. Measures include skylights, electric forklifts, tank insulation, high-efficient pumps, and new filtration equipment & bottling line. The first goal was reached so now the attention is focusing on renewable energy investments like a solar panel operation system. All paper used for the winery are FSC for SFI certified which means the paper is obtained from sustainable forests. Cork is actually a critical source of CO2 reduction and most forests are family farms. By using corks, Bogle is helping immortalize this renewable resource. Only two wineries in California meet the Certified Green guidelines, Bogle being on od them. This means their grapes are grown in a responsible manner and also encourage other vineyards to do the same. 62% of the fruit that reaches the winery is Certified Green.
